Friends of Lewes Planning Committee Report 5 March 2015

Representations made on planning applications following the meeting of the Executive Committee held on Wednesday 25th February 2015:

SDNP/15/00575/CND: Rise Farm Cockshut Road Removal of condition 2 attached to planning approval LW/05/1892 to allow access to and from the site via the Stanley Turner Sports Ground and Kingston Road, Lewes.
The Friends of Lewes Society objects to the removal of condition 2 attached to planning approval LW/05/1892. If this planning condition were to be removed the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders using the lane would continue to be put at risk by the increased use of the Lane by private and commercial vehicles. Physical access restrictions, for example lockable bollards, should be installed to prevent unauthorised vehicular use, whilst maintaining free access to pedestrians and cyclists.

SDNP/15/00489/HOUS: Erection of a two-storey side extension. 10 King Henrys Road, Lewes.
The Friends of Lewes does not object in principle to the proposed development but considers the detailing of the window heads in the new extension should match those of the existing building.

SDNP/15/00503/FUL: Change of use from commercial/retail into two self-contained residential units. 28 Western Road, Lewes.
The Friends of Lewes does not object to the change of use but has concerns that the proposal to create two residential units represents over development and will result in an unsuitable internal layout.

SDNP/15/00455/HOUS: Two storey rear/side extension with extended single storey side extension. 24 Winterbourne Close, Lewes.
The Friends of Lewes objects to the scale of the proposed two storey extension which it considers too large and does not respect the character of neighbouring buildings, contrary to policy ST3 of the Lewes District Council Local Plan.

Week as at 24 February

SDNP/14/06197/HOUS: Formation of a paved parking space and erection of front porch and a first floor side extension. 12 Hereward Way, Lewes.
The Friends of Lewes has no objection to this development subject to a planning condition requiring permeable paving materials to be used in the construction of the parking space, so surface water runoff is managed sustainably

SDNP/15/00754/LIS: Replacement of existing UPVC windows and external doors with timber. 6 Sun Street, Lewes.
The Friends of Lewes supports the replacement of the existing uPVC windows and doors with timber. However it considers the design of the doors proposed to be inappropriate for the listed building and simple panel doors should be provided instead.

SDNP/15/00897/HOUS 11A Prince Edward’s Road.   Side and rear extension, recladding, rear dormer and pedestrian entrance.
SDNP/15/00942/ADV 3 High Street.   Retain signs.
SDNP/15/00557/HOUS 3 De Warrenne Road. Reconstruction of existing garage with duo-pitched roof, roof lights and dormer windows.
