A planning application to redevelop the (former) Lewes Bus Station and garage on East Street was lodged by the Generator Group in 2022 to demolish the existing buildings and construct a mixed-use development comprising 3 houses, 37 self-contained flats, and ground floor commercial space. This was refused by the South Downs National Park Authority in September 2022.
The Generator Group submitted a new plan to redevelop the former bus station in Lewes in July 2023. The new plan was for 35 residential dwellings, including three houses and 32 flats, as well as 198m2 of commercial floorspace at the site in Eastgate Street. The proposals also include access alterations, landscaping and parking.
Meanwhile, the station is closed.
