Friends of Lewes Planning Committee Report 4 August 2022

Representations made on planning applications following the meeting of the Planning Committee held on 4 August 2022:

SDNP/22/03133/PA16: 5G Telecoms Installation: H3G street pole and additional cabinets. Nevill Road Street Works.
The Friends of Lewes object to the installation of such a high pole at this location, which would be too prominent opposite the entrance to the Nevill housing estate.  The Society would recommend that the applicant considers alternative locations for the erection of the HG3 street pole, ideally at a more remote site.

SDNP/22/03166/HOUS: Replacement of existing UVPC casement front bay windows with timber casement windows. 19 Cleve Terrace.
The Friends of Lewes fully support this proposal and would like to encourage other property owners within the Lewes Conservation Area to replace any existing UVPC windows with traditional timber windows.

SDNP/22/03290/LDP: Remove velux window to garage roof and replace with a dormer window. Withypool Kingston Road.
The Friends of Lewes would like to comment on the inadequate drawings and lack of details provided with this application and would recommend that it should be resubmitted.

SDNP/22/03497/FUL: Erection of new two storey dwelling with alterations to the northern boundary wall. 207 High Street.
The Friends of Lewes supports the principle of development on this site which was effectively established following the approval at appeal of an earlier planning application submitted in 2015. However, the Society notes the comments of the SDNP’s Design Review Panel, dated the 22nd October 2021, which recommends that a “simplified form” of design should be considered in order to reduce the impact of the proposal on the adjacent public car park.

The Committee examined the following applications and had no observations to make:
