Representations made on planning applications following the meeting of the Planning Committee held on 1 November 2022:
SDNP/22/04263/HOUS: Retrospective application for the conversion and extension of double garage into ancillary annex and storage room. 9 Hawkenbury Way.
Friends of Lewes note the assurances given by the agent on behalf of the applicant that this building will be used solely as ancillary to the main dwelling. However, the Society has some concerns at the suggested parking arrangements in the adjacent ‘hammerhead’ as it could restrict larger vehicles being able to turn around.
SDNP/ 22/ 044568/HOUS: Withypool, Kingston Road: To replace existing garage roof light window with new dormer window.
Friends of Lewes object to this application as insufficient information has been provided in order to assess the detail of the proposal.
SDNP/22/04605/HOUS: 48 North Way: Replacement of cedar shingles external wall cladding with cedar fibre cement board external wall cladding.
Friends of Lewes object to the proposed introduction of dark fibre cement board wall cladding on a semi-detached house at this location.
SDNP/22/04617/HOUS: 44 North Way: Replacement of cedar shingles external wall cladding with cedar fibre cement board external wall cladding.
Friends of Lewes object to the proposed introduction of dark fibre cement board wall cladding on a semi-detached house at this location. (This proposal seems to be identical to application SDNP/22/04605/HOUS above).
SDNP/22/04629/HOUS: 1 Hill Road: Erection of side extension to existing front garage, addition of walkway and balustrade to garage roof.
Friends of Lewes comment that the proposed balustrade to the garage roof should incorporate the use of ‘low iron glass’ in order to minimise light reflection at this exposed location.
SDNP/22/04667/HOUS: 21 Meridian Road: Erection of side extension, loft conversion and rear dormer.
Friends of Lewes object to the size of the rear dormer which does not comply with the agreed guidance on roof extensions.
SDNP/22/04692/OUT: The Malthouse Daveys Lane: Outline application for the demolition of existing buildings and construction of mixed use development comprising 12 new commercial units (Use Class E) and 48 self-contained residential units (C3). Proposals include private amenity space for all residential units together with communal green space and natural landscaping. Secure cycle parking, car parking and refuse/recycling storage to be integrated throughout the site.
Friends of Lewes object to the demolition of the historic Malthouse buildings and to the proposed piecemeal redevelopment of this part of the Brooks Road area. The society recommends that consideration of this proposal should be deferred until further assessment of the current SDNPA consultation on the Brooks Road Planning Brief has been completed and an overall development strategy agreed for this area.
SDNP/22/04707/HOUS: 10 Hill Road: Erection of rear dormer, Loft conversion to include gable end extension.
Friends of Lewes object to the size of the rear dormer which does not comply with the agreed guidance on roof extensions.
SDNP/22/04716/HOUS: Erection of outbuilding in front garden: 28 Ferrers Road.
Friends of Lewes object to the erection of this outbuilding in the front garden close to the boundary to Ferrers Road, which would be clearly visible in the street scene.
SDNP/22/04721/FUL: Storage Area Daveys Lane: Construction of mixed-use development comprising 3 new commercial units (Use Class E), 4 self-contained flats and a single family house (C3). Proposal include private amenity space for all residential units together with natural landscaping and communal green space for the use by employees and residents. Secure cycle parking, car parking and refuse/recycling storage to be integrated throughout the site.
Friends of Lewes object to the proposed piecemeal redevelopment of this part of the Brooks Road area. The society recommends that consideration of this proposal should be deferred until further assessment of the current SDNPA consultation on the Brooks Road Planning Brief has been completed and an overall development strategy agreed for this area.
SDNP/22/04959/HOUS: 19 Middle Way: Replacement roof to accommodate first floor loft storey with rear dormer and two roof lights to front roofslope.
Friends of Lewes object to the size of the rear dormer which does not comply with the agreed guidance on roof extensions.
