This consultation by East Sussex Highways seeks to make layout changes to the railway station forecourt, which can become somewhat undisciplined at peak periods with cars setting down or picking up rail passengers.
As a result, all car traffic will have to use the forecourt area in a more ‘controlled way’, with the introduction of a ‘one-way’ traffic, which effectively reduces the area of ‘flexible space’ available for cars to manoeuvre.
The Friends of Lewes raises a number of questions, and suggests that, should this scheme be implemented, that a “Review” be undertaken six months after its completion.
