On Saturday 2nd September 2017 members of Friends of Lewes asked visitors to their stall at the Societies Fair: “What makes Lewes special for you?”
This was chosen to be in line with the national Civic Voice theme for the year of “Conservation Conversations”. The answers which we were given are shown below.
All the survey sheets were put into a bag to choose a lucky winner. Roger Beazley won the prize of a £10 book token and a copy of the latest publication from Friends of Lewes, “Lewes in Detail” by Marietta van Dyck.

Lewes residents are invited by by Santon North Street and the Lewes District Council to comment on the outline proposals to upgrade the town’s recreational spaces. This is the second in a series of public consultations to give local residents a say in the future of Pells Recreation Ground and Malling Fields.
The proposals are available to view on North Street Quarter’s website, along with a short questionnaire. These outline plans are based on the feedback received at the first public consultation. The response from this second consultation will be used to move the proposals from outline to detailed designs to be presented at the third and final consultation which will take place in late spring/early summer 2017.
The closing date for responding is Monday 20 March at 12pm.
