Decisions taken on planning applications at a meeting held on Thursday, 3 April 2014.

Week ending 21 March

SDNP/14/01331/FUL Pannetts Building, Railway Lane

The Friends of Lewes object to this application. Whilst supporting the redevelopment, it considers the proposed balconies are too wide and out of proportion to the existing building, contrary to ST3 of the Lewes District Council Local Plan. It would not object to smaller balconies of a width that are in proportion to the existing building.

SDNP/14/01474/HOUS 7 Grange Road

The Friends of Lewes object to this application which is not in accordance with ST3 of the Lewes District Council Local Plan. The proposed roof dormer is too wide and is not similar to those in neighbouring properties, contrary to the Design and Access Statement submitted with the application. The Society also objects to the solid section separating the two windows of the dormer which makes the design asymmetrical.

SDNP/14/01290/HOUS 42 Grange Road

The Friends of Lewes object to this application. Whilst having no objection in principle to the proposed development it considers the hardstanding should be constructed of permeable material to mitigate surface water runoff. Should planning permission be granted, a planning condition should require the construction to meet the Department for Communities and Local Government Guidance on the Permeable Surfacing of Front Gardens.
