SDNP/14/05841/FUL: Nationwide Building Society, 59 High Street. Removal of fire escape stair and balcony and erection of replacement fire staircase.
Friends of Lewes welcomes the proposal to tidy up the dilapidated rear elevation of this building. However, the Society objects to the scale and design of the proposed fire staircase, which is visually intrusive, contrary to policies ST3 and H5 of the Lewes District Council Local Plan.

Friends of Lewes objects to the proposed awning which does not relate to the structure of the listed building, will detract from its fenestration and adversely affect its character, contrary to policy H2(b) of the Lewes District Council Local Plan.
SDNP/14/06326/HOUS: 2 Winterbourne Close Single storey rear extension and roof extension with dormer window and rooflight
Friends of Lewes objects to the scale of the proposed development and the conversion of the existing hipped roof to a gable end, which do not respect the character of neighbouring buildings contrary to policy ST3(a) of the Lewes District Council Local Plan. It also objects to the scale of the proposed dormer which is too wide and is not set down from the ridge.

Friends of Lewes supports the improvements proposed to the access staircase.
