Representations made on planning applications following the meeting of the Planning Committee held on Thursday, 1st December 2016.

Representations made to planning applications in weekly lists as at 8, 15, 22 & 29 November

Week as at 15 November

SDNP/16/05249/HOUS: Installation of rear dormer window. 31 Leicester Road.
Friends of Lewes object to the design of the dormer window because it is set too close to the ridge within the roof. The Society also considers GRP to be an inappropriate roofing material for use in the Conservation Area; zinc or lead should be used.  The Society does not object to the size of the dormer which would be acceptable if it was set lower into the existing roof and constructed with alternative materials.

SDNP/16/05296/FUL: Roof conversion  64 Houndean Rise.
Friends of Lewes object to the design of the rear dormer which is too big, rises above the ridge of the existing roof and unbalances the symmetry of the existing building. The Society also objects to the proposed roof lights on the front elevation which are excessively large and do not fit in with the existing fenestration.

SDNP/16/05395/HOUS: Installation of a rear dormer. 27 West Street.
Friends of Lewes object to the design of dormer window which is too large and out of proportion with the existing roof. The Society also considers that roofing felt should not be used in the Conservation Area; zinc or lead should be used.

SDNP/16/05451/LDE: Summer house and boundary wall extensions, granted under ref LW/04/0727 and constructed without complying with planning conditions, are lawful. 27 West Street.
Friends of Lewes comments that it is unfortunate that non-compliance with the planning conditions under LW/04/0727 was not identified earlier.

Week as at 22 November

SDNP/16/05028/FUL: Erection of a detached two-bedroom dwelling. 51 Cluny Street.
Friends of Lewes have no objection in principle to the proposal to develop this site but is not convinced that the proposed design is appropriate and will fit in with the character of the area.

SDNP/16/05384/HOUS: First floor side extension. 42 Houndean Rise.
Friends of Lewes have no objection in principle to the proposed development. However, the design of the roof forms shown in the elevations are not resolved and are not shown correctly in the drawings.

Week as at 29 November

SDNP/16/05319/HOUS: Erection of rear extension and conversion of loft to habitable room. 15A Nevill Crescent.
Friends of Lewes have no objection in principle to the proposed development. However, the design of the junction of the extension to the existing house has not been well considered and the layout of the Velux window fenestration on the roof elevations appears haphazard.

SDNP/16/05089/HOUS 25 Landport Road.   Single storey rear extension to replace conservatory.
SDNP/16/05157/HOUS 23 Eastport Lane.   Replace front door and glazing above it.
SDNP/16/05179/FUL Treetops, 25 Bradford Road.   Rear garden room.
SDNP/16/05438/HOUS 5 Montacute Road.   Single storey rear extension, retain terrace and replace garage door.
