Representations made on planning applications following the meeting of the Planning Committee held on 5 March 2020:
SDNP/20/00303/FUL: Subdivision of the dwelling and internal reconfiguration of the approved extension to provide a 4 bed dwelling and a 2 bed dwelling, new vehicular accesses to provide off-street parking, a single storey rear extension, extension to the dormer window, alteration to the front kitchen window at the existing dwelling, porch, rear dormer window and rear velux window at the new dwelling. 1 Eridge Green.
(Objection) Friends of Lewes are concerned that the proposed development represents over development of the site and could set a precedent. It considers the design of the reconfigured extension to be messy and the roof dormer is disproportionately large and unbalanced.
SDNP/19/05887/HOUS: Loft conversion incorporating rear facing dormer window. 8 Hawkenbury Way. Friends of Lewes object to the size of the rear dormer which although set down from the ridge is too wide and unbalances the roof.
SDNP/20/00253/FUL: Change of use of ground floor from A1 (hairdresser) to C3 (residential), rebuild of front bay structure, replacement of front windows, and new doors and windows to rear elevation. 115 Western Road.
Friends of Lewes object to the proposed use of uPVC windows in the Conservation Area. Timber windows should be used to the design of those originally installed.
SDNP/20/00675/FUL: Construction of 3 no. new dwellings with associated landscaping and parking within the curtilage of a Listed Building and including alterations to the Listed Building and demolition of outbuildings. The Lewes New School Talbot Terrace.
Friends of Lewes do not object to the principle of developing this site. However, it comments that the number and height of the houses proposed risk overdevelopment of the site. It considers the development should be limited to two houses no more than two storeys high.
